The use of sein and haben
The verbs "sein" (to be) and "haben" (to have) are two of the most common and most important verbs in the German language. These verbs are also highly irregular, and so non-native speakers often have trouble correctly conjugating them. Many non-native German speakers will also confuse the two verbs.
This exercise will help you distinguish between the two verbs, as well as allow you to practice conjugating each. You will be given several sentences with missing words. You must identify whether each sentence needs a form of "sein," or a form of "haben," and then provide the correctly conjugated form of that word.
