Definite and indefinite articles
Definite articles are used when referring to a specific noun. In German, the choice of definite article is determined by not only the gender of the noun, but also by the case. While "der," "die," and "das" are used in the nominative (for masculine, feminine/plural, and neutral), each of these can change depending on case.
